Vacuum Forming

Vacuum forming is a manufacturing process used to create hollow shapes and parts from thin sheets of plastic. The process involves heating a sheet of plastic until it becomes soft and pliable, then placing it over the tooling. A vacuum is then applied underneath the sheet, causing it to conform to the shape of the part as the air is removed.

At Plastic Mouldings we can produce products from the following materials, Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS). High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS). Polyethylene (PE), Polypropylene (PP), Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol. (PETG). Polycarbonate (PC).

In 2023 Plastic Mouldings invested in CNC finishing for our Vacuum forming division, this allows us to have a precise finishing of the Mold surface. The reason we installed this function was to give our customers high-quality and consistency vacuum formed parts with precise dimensions and surface finishes.

Overall, integrating CNC finishing with vacuum forming enhances the precision, flexibility, and efficiency of the manufacturing process.

Our marketing base for this process encompasses all sectors of manufacturing including aerospace, electronics, electrical, automotive, vehicle conversion, medical, display and general engineering.
